June 1st is National Trails Day. To celebrate, members of the Great Falls Trail Bike Riders Association teamed up with Friends of the Little Belts on a trail project in partnership with Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest.
Trail 732 near Villars Creek / Oti Park (east of Monarch, MT) was in need of drainage correction. USFS personnel staked out minor changes to the trail flow that resulted in an upper trail section with multiple grade reversals that should result in a much more sustainable trail for the next several years / decades. Our volunteers helped dig the trail sections in using hand tools.
Thanks to all of the volunteers that showed up to make phase 1 of this project a success. I’m sure you will all sleep soundly tonight!
