Received a mid-week report from our Trail Steward crew. “Pilgrim Creek today. Got to 336 junction. Turned around. Lots of cutting but not as brutal as Tobins Gulch first two miles. Going to South end of Pilgrim tomorrow and see where we are cutting. Got Ming Coulee and 307 cut to the east junction of Ming. USFS cut bottom of Ming. It was big trees and so glad that was clear.” “Rained all night weds and again this morning. Headed to pilgrim tomorrow. Did ATV trails and rode 338 to Rocky Ridge. Rocky clear. Looks like trees in better shape looking toward deep creek.”
A different crew headed over to the SE side of the Little Belts this past week and were going to be working on clearing trails near some of the Narrows.
Trail opening dates: Just a friendly reminder to please honor trail opening / closing dates. There are times when we are able to obtain special written permission from Ranger Districts for our Trail Steward crew to clear trails early, but that is handled on a case by case basis.
With that said, tomorrow is July 1st and a whole lot of additional trails open up for the season. Some of the trails opening tomorrow in the Little Belts include: Deep Creek, Island Park, Calf Creek, Cabin Creek, Hay Canyon, Woodchopper. There are several other trails opening tomorrow in the Castle Mtns. I believe the majority of trails in the Crazy Mtns opened a couple weeks ago, but haven’t received any reports from anyone that rode them yet this season. Please feel free to list in the comments any additional trails opening soon that I might have missed.
