Castle Mtns maintenance

Last week saw the GFTBRA trail steward crew working on the single-track trails in the Castle Mountains, east of White Sulphur Springs. 717, 723, 713, 713a are all cleared and seasonally open through Oct 14th (along with several 50″ trails that are still open). If you’ve never ridden the Castles, it’s got a nice mix of single-track and 50″ trails that have been the focus of some trail improvement projects over the past few years.

Prior work = After the final big push on trail 311 to the Smith River was completed near the end of August, the GFTBRA trail steward crew spent a few days working on and around trail 317 in the Deep Creek area. 317 had previously been opened up by a combination of volunteer groups, but was heavily overgrown and in need of being trimmed back to provide a wider safer path to ride.
