Road to the Highwoods is open. Not too much snow until you get to the turn off for Thain Creek. That’s where you get some minor snow that is pretty well packed on the road, but very light on the surrounding areas. The final mile into the creek and restroom has a bit more snow and definitely required 4wd today. If it warms up, should clear off over the next 2 weeks.
Took some photos and a couple videos at the start of the singletrack trail system just past the restroom. Snowpack looks about normal. Didn’t see many downed trees and didn’t have to clear any from the road on my way in.
While out there, started on the back road that empty’s out near Geyser. Made it past about 3 of the creek crossings before encountering deeper snow that was soft. After spinning a bit, decided not to push my luck and turned back around. Guessing another 3 or so weeks for that to melt.
Anyone with any other reports from around the area? Still a little early for general riding, but it’s coming soon…….
