Call in sick to work today and be the first to make new dirt bike tracks as Pilgrim Creek is now open again for the 2025 season. Don’t forget your snow shovel and chainsaw.
Trails in the Little Belts are starting to officially open again for another ride season. May 16th was the official opening day for Tobins Gulch & Pilgrim Creek (trails 315, 304, 305), but today May 20th is the first day you can ride your motorcycle on it.
For those not familiar with the Pilgrim Creek trails, they are single-track trails in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest operated under a timeshare arrangement between motorized and non-motorized use.
Motorcycle use allowed EVERY Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from May 16 – October 14.
Friday through Monday allows motorcycle use when the Friday is an odd numbered day.
A little unique scheduling situation that takes some planning if you want to ride on a weekend. If it helps any, here is a list of the days that you can NOT ride motorcycles on the Pilgrim Creek / Tobins Gulch trails:
– not May 16-19
– not May 30 – June 2
– not June 6-9
– not June 20-23
– not July 4-7
– not July 18-21
– not August 8-11
– not August 22-25
– not September 12-15
– not September 26-29
– not October 10-13
Just so there is no confusion. This isn’t stating that the trail is clear or rideable at present, but only that it’s officially open to public use from now through October. GFTBRA’s sawyer crew hasn’t cleared anything for 2025 as of yet, but are scheduled to begin the 2025 season sometime over the next couple weeks.
